Many business owners be-lieve,
however, that they have
to work with high-pressure
systems to clean their factories.
Some factors speak against
this:
The high pressure requires
more water altogether. With
high-pressure systems, you
need less water per minute,
yet you generally need more
water per cleaning session to
clean any given surface than
you do with a medium-pres-sure
system. This is a decisive
factor when it comes to saving
water in the factory.
Low pressure is too weak
The high-pressure vaporises
the water, forming aerosols
which spray bacteria up to-wards
the ceiling and, after
a few hours, these are trans-ferred
back onto the food sur-faces
which have just been
cleaned. It is known that va-porised
bacteria can remain
in the air long after the clean-ing
has been carried out. This
begs the question as to wheth-er
high-pressure cleaning is
actually worth it. High-pres-sure
cleaning nozzles can fling
bacteria back into areas which
have already been cleaned –
this means that cleaning must
be performed multiple times.
What about using a low-pres-sure
cleaning system (under
10 bar)? The problem is that
it cannot clean much. In other
words, a low-pressure system
cannot clean precisely enough.
To clean a surface effectively,
you need more time, water and
manual labour. Low pressure
also tends to “spray back” and
it often requires a lot of scrub-bing
to achieve a satisfactory
result.
The best uses of medium-pres-sure
systems are recognised in
the following areas:
Increased food safety: as de-scribed,
food safety can be
improved by avoiding aero-sols
which spray the bacte-ria
back into the air, some-thing
which does not occur
using a medium-pressure sys-tem.
In addition, medium-pres-sure
systems reduce the scat-tering
of dirt particles so that
already cleaned areas are not
recontaminated by further
cleaning.
Reduced water usage: clean-ing
with medium-pressure sys-tems
uses each drop of water
effectively and requires less
water. You just need the cor-rect
water settings to use the
water effectively and to ensure
that you can achieve continued
water savings in your factory.
Less work: using a medi-um-
pressure cleaning noz-zle
reduces the total cleaning
time as a larger surface can be
cleaned faster.
