in use at Manner today in a further developed
form. What works for waffles can‘t be bad for
other products in the food industry. And so
Ernest Neckhaim has been on a perpetual PR
tour for his Skinner for about two years. He has
a number of good arguments in his luggage. In
Germany alone, up to 18 million tons of food
are simply thrown away every year. The food
industry produces up to 17 percent of waste,
and the same percentage is produced by the
country‘s canteen kitchens.
Millions of tons of waste
“I claim that the Skinner is an economical
solution to drastically reduce the amount of
rejects,“ says Neckhaim and shows a video of
his Skinner as proof. Rollers with blades pull

of a second and separate the proverbial
chaff from the wheat. Simply ingenious
and ingeniously simple. So much so that
viewers ask themselves again and again
why a comparable technology has not
been around for decades.
Precision work done
In order for the technology to work with
the most diverse types of pocket and bar
packaging, a great deal of precision work
was required. “The thinner the film of a
package, the more critical the unpacking
process is,“ the inventor says from the
proverbial sewing box. But such problems
have long since been solved, the techno-
logy patented and ready for higher tasks:
“We‘d love to come to interested parties
with the Skinner and present it in test
operation.“
The machine is trimmed even further in
two directions. Firstly, it is to become
more compact and fit into a two-cubic
metre cube. On the other hand, even
higher speed is on the agenda. Neckhaim
assures that his patented invention can
already achieve the ROI (Return on Invest-ment)
after a full four months. A clear
conscience – priceless. Christian Blümel
