As with all meat processors, traceability is an
extremely high priority for GCM. And this is for
two reasons: On the one hand, it is a matter of
operational risk management that can minimize
the economic consequences of recalls. On the
other hand, business partners and,
last but not least, consumers
are also demanding more
and more data about
products and their history,
especially in the case of
meat.
Both cases demand more and
more from the ERP system.
What used to be simply sold
as a product must now
be peppered with
possible support in their work. Labeled articles
are recorded with scanners at the production
exit, picking is done with mobile data collection
devices, and inventory data is also pre-screened
on the end devices: Digitization opens up new
opportunities for greater efficiency and better
documentation of processes in areas where
routing slips used to exist. Other highlights of

the relevant data from the ERP system. This
speed can only be achieved because the data
of all raw and auxiliary materials are already
fed into the ERP system at goods receipt and
are electronically carried along during each
individual manufacturing step. The fact that the
data is recorded online in the production pro-cesses
avoids unnecessary additional work and
reduces the time required for documentation
and labeling. Good news not only for the project
