Oxytec, a supplier of UV-C attachments,
points to a reduction in the total germ count
of more than 80 percent due to the blue-shim-mering
rays. From this, the company calculates
a more than 90 percent killing of the corona-virus
with a single air passage. The disinfection
specialists from Hamburg rely on combined
solutions. Particularly in meat and delicatessen
enterprises much circulating air is driven by the
cooling evaporators, but little fresh air. Only
when upgraded with UV-C can active disin-fection
be achieved and thus a high level of
employee protection against the virus.
99.99 percent efficiency
In a research project, Dr. Hönle AG has provided
evidence of the effectiveness of short-wave,
high-energy UV-C radiation in inactivating
SARS-CoV-2 viruses. Tests at the Institute of
Medical Virology at the University Hospital
in Frankfurt showed that coronaviruses are
reliably killed within seconds using special
Hönle UV equipment, with a kill rate of 99.99
percent achieved in the laboratory.

high inactivation rate of
microorganisms.
A combination of accelerated drying and
integrated sterilization for food production
comes from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany,

perfect figures. The Hygrex DLV 2500 clean
air ceiling system improves indoor air hygiene.
According to the company, its disinfection
system provides 99.9 percent removal of infec-tious
microparticles in the critical MPPS range
of 0.1 to 0.3 μm (MPPS: most penetrating
particle size). A variable-speed fan on the un-derside
draws room air through the filtration
and disinfection system and exhausts the pu-rified
air through a five-channel point-nozzle
system under the ceiling. The system can be
retrofitted quickly and easily and is particularly
suitable for slice, cutting and ripening rooms.
It weighs around 65 kilograms and is attached
to the ceiling with four screws.

Two other solutions for food production are
directly related to personnel. The modular
hygiene stations from Itec, a brand from

wishing to pass through these personal
interlocks only needs to look into the scanner
for a moment - 0.2 seconds are enough - to
identify themselves. The accuracy is said to be
over 99 percent. In parallel,
a temperature scanner determines without
contact whether the body temperature
is below the fever threshold.
