In 2004 the qualified ice-cream confectioner first had the idea of using the native blue sweet lupine to make lactose-free ice cream. With the idea successfully established on the market, Gerhard Kloth and his team now concen-trate on a wide range of various lupine products.This follows the trend in the food industry for seve-ral years now towards protein-rich products. And as a home-grown alternative to soya, the lupine has the advantage of containing far fewer undesirable substances such as as toxins or purines. Knowledge transfer Lupine for all - this guiding principle underpins the work of Lupino. This translates not so much into the company wanting to bring finished products to market. The start-up was founded in 2014. It started production of top-grade protein extract in spring 2015 following one year of intensive research and development. Lupino processes regional plant-based raw materials, mainly the blue lupine, into high-quality protein products and protein-based fibre for the food industry round support for customers is the company’s main aim.
