Foto: Belgian Meat Office/ VLAM BELGIEN IM GESPRÄCH INVITATION TO BELGIUM Der diesjährige Expertenaus-tausch des Roundtable Ge-sprächs vom Belgian Meat Of-fice in Brüssel stand unter dem Thema „Spekulationen und Preisvolatilität als Herausforderung für die Fleischbran-che“. Die Teilnehmergruppe war inter-national besetzt, u. a. mit den Experten Luc De Lille von Danis, einem Unter-nehmen der Groep De Brauwer NV, Philippe Van Damme, Eigentümer und Geschäftsführer von Locks Internatio-nal NV, und Jos Claeys, Unternehmens-chef der Westvlees-Gruppe, sowie Fachjournalisten aus sieben Ländern. Joris Coenen, Marketing Officer der BMO, wies auf Studien der FAO – der Ernährungs- und Landwirtschaftsorga-nisation der Vereinten Nationen – hin, aus denen hervorgeht, dass die Preise und daraus resultierend die Gewinn-spannen der Branchen zunehmend schwanken. Dahinter steckt, dass die Preise der Futterkosten in den letzten Jahren angestiegen, die Fleischpreise dagegen auf einem relativ gleichen Level geblieben sind. Die Geschäfte mit Spekulationen sind einer der Hauptfaktoren für die Preis-schwankungen der weltweiten Getrei-depreise. Mittlerweile ist eine große Diskrepanz zwischen den Finanzmärk-ten und der tatsächlich bestehenden ökonomischen Situation zu verzeich-nen. Ein weiterer Hemmschuh für den Profit der fleischverarbeitenden Bran-che sind zudem die steigenden Ener-giekosten und die zunehmende Bedeu-tung von Biokraftstoffen. Sie sorgen für starke Preisschwankungen der Futter-mittel, denn die Kosten der Schweine-fleischproduktion werden überwiegend (rd. 70 %) durch das Futter beeinflusst. Eine Lösung, um aus dieser Misere zu gelangen, sahen die Teilnehmer im Ver-kauf bzw. in der Nutzung des ganzen Schlachtkörpers. Mit der Zerlegung des Schweins in kleine Teile entständen automatisch niedrigpreisige Stücke, die sich wiederum negativ auf die Gewinn-marge auswirken. Besonders Asien sei hier ein guter Markt für Teilstücke, die in Europa nicht genutzt werden. Einig waren sich die Experten auch darin, dass diese Preisschwankungen zu-gleich eine große Herausforderung für die Branche darstellen, die sich durch richtige Handlungen gut meistern las-sen wird.
